Academic
Stuart contributes to the GCHE unit EEE716 - Specialist Studies in Higher Education.

Stuart contributes to academic professional development activities run by Schools/Faculties on request.

Stuart participated as a peer observer in the Faculty of Science and Technology's 'Peer observation of teaching: Engaging new teachers' (POTENT) program for new casual teaching staff.

Stuart contributed to the Deakin Teaching and Learning Conference for 2009, including collaborating in the Research Briefing presentation Negotiating Flexible Learning: a Tool for Matching Learners’ and Teachers’ Perceptions and Expectations of Flexible Pedagogies.

Stuart made a presentation to a study tour group from Thompson Rivers University, British Columbia - The integration of off-campus, off-shore and online delivery into teaching and learning (6 MB).

Stuart made a presentation as part of the ITL brown bag lunch seminar series - An Online Student Portfolio for the Development and Assessment of Engineering Graduate Attributes (2 MB).

Research
Stuart retains a strong interest in Frequency Domain Analysis.

Stuart was invited by the Centre for Material and Fibre Innovation to present the seminar Wavelet Texture Analysis for multi-scale materials characterisation.

Stuart (as a team member with Dale Holt) was awarded a $219,000 Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC - formerly Carrick Institute) Leadership for Excellence in Learning and Teaching Program Grant (for 2008 and 2009) for the project entitled Strategic leadership for institutional teaching and learning centres: developing a model for the 21st century.

Stuart gave a presentation entitled 'Publishing in Higher Education: Practical Advice' as part of the 2009 Higher Education Research Colloquia series.

Stuart represents ITL on the DSO Management Advisory Panel (formerly the DSO system management committee).

Stuart represents ITL on the Faculty of Science and Technology teaching and learning committee.
