Teaching
Stuart is unit chair, or supervising project students in the following units:

  • SEB121 Fundamentals of Technology Management;
  • SEB311 Methods of Managerial Decision Making (summer semester 2002);
  • SEB421/621 Strategic Issues in Engineering;
  • SEM227;
  • SEJ343/342 - supervision of 4 Bachelor of Technology student projects; and
  • SEJ343/443 - supervision of 6 Bachelor of Engineering student projects.

Stuart has been awarded a Deakin Online Teaching and Learning Fellowship for 2003 - this provides funding for 6 months of advanced professional development followed by 6 months to mentor other Faculty staff in application of on-line technology in teaching and learning.

Research
Stuart's
Doctoral program is finally complete!

Stuart has been awarded a Teaching Grant from the School to design, re-develop, deliver and evaluate a unit for on-line delivery.

Stuart has been awarded a Seeding Grant from the School for the research project - Validation of method for automated classification of degree of pilling of fabric.

Development/Consulting
Stuart has been invited to co-present a seminar on 're-thinking assessment' for the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences.

Stuart has been invited to be a referee for conference papers submitted for consideration for the 13th Annual Conference of the Australasian Association for Engineering Education.

Stuart has been invited to contribute a case study on assessment in engineering for the Australian Universities Teaching Committee funded Assessing Learning in Australian Universities project.

Service
Stuart contributes the following service to the School:

  • member of the School Marketing Committee;
  • member of Deakin University Engineering Advisory Committee (DUEAC);
  • chair of School Learning Resources advisory committee;
  • deputy chair of School Academic Progress and Discipline Committee;
  • member of the Electronics/Computronics curriculum review team;
  • represented the School in the evaluation process for the selection of a new University corporate application for on-line course delivery;
  • represents the School in the evaluation and selection of a University Digital Objects Management System;
  • represents the School on the WebCT Vista/Deakin Studies Online implementation project team;
  • presented the off-campus orientation session for off-campus students; and
  • School liaison for the Australasian Association for Engineering Education (AaeE).
